Peter Nicholson

Referee Development Officer

Pete Supports... The Referee

About Me...

Pete took up refereeing some 30 years ago after breaking his leg while playing in the old Kettering Amateur League believing that he “could do better”. He progressed through the United Counties Football League to the Southern League and The Football Conference as an Assistant Referee.

One of his most enjoyable days out was at the Old Wembley stadium acting as an Assistant Referee at a charity football match in the year of the “Bradford Fire”. He found himself leading two teams out of the tunnel, an Old England XI led by Bobby Moore and a Capital Radio XI led by George Best.

His Role...

Having been appointed as the NFA's Referee Development Officer in 2007, he focus's his efforts on both recruiting and retaining referees to operate within the county. In order to assist with the latter of these, he requires the assistance of the leagues, clubs and other Referees.
