Charter Standard

What is the FA Charter Standard and how will this kitemark benefit my club?

FA Charter Standard aims to?

  • Provide a nationally recognised quality control 'kitemark'
  • Identify clubs and organisations where best practice exists
  • Improve the quality of provision of football for everyone
  • Sustain participation of football players for a longer time
  • Raise the standards of the grassroots game

Charter Standard's four levels are:

1. Charter Standard Club
2. Charter Standard Development Club
3. Charter Standard Community Club
4. Charter Standard Adult Club

Each level depends upon size, type and ambition of the club.

The Pathway - How to become a Charter Standard Club?

Pathway 1
Download Charter Standard Club Introductory pack and application form by clicking the related document on the right, and familiarise yourself with what criteria your club needs to meet for it to achieve the award.

Pathway 2
Contact Lee Brown (details below) to assist you through the early stages and explain the criteria in more detail. Following the initial phone call or meeting you will have a better idea of the pathway of action to follow and a better understanding of the process and what is involved.

Pathway 3
Once information is passed onto your club and the club is in agreement to proceed, then you are on you way. This is when we can assist you even further to achieve that end goal. There will of course be questions and areas for clarification. We will support you all the way on the phone, by club visits or if you prefer, you can come into the office for more direct support from the team.

Pathway 4
Once we have received your completed application, we carefully checked all the criteria has been met, and will advise of any evidence missing or criteria not quite met. Pathway 5 is achieved when we have a fully competed application.

Pathway 5
The application is checked over to see that all the criteria is met

Pathway 6
The application is sent to the National FA for final approval.

Pathway 7
Your club is now an FA Charter Standard Club. The club will be contacted directly by the National FA with your award and Northamptonshire FA will arrange to present you with your well earned award. Well done!
