For whom?
Candidates must be over 16 years of age and hold a current FA Emergency Aid Certificate.

Course Content:
Aim:
This course will provide candidates with knowledge and understanding of first aid, sufficient to be able to offer appropriate care and manage a range of illnesses and injuries sustained in sport.

It offers the opportunity for those involved in sport to provide quality and effective first aid care, achieved through an understanding of the general duties, responsibilities, and treatment principles of first aid.

Objectives:

On successful completion of the course, candidates should be able to:

Describe the duties, responsibilities, general treatment principles, and priorities of a first aid provision.

Demonstrate an understanding of basic anatomy and physiology in relation to first aid.

Describe the elements of pre-event preparation in relation to first aid provision.

Provide logical Initial Assessments and appropriate use of barriers and infection control.

Recognise and respond to the signs and symptoms of common illnesses.

Recognise and respond to the signs and symptoms of common injuries.


Assessment:
The assessment for this course will include:

Completion of an internal assessment of candidate's application of knowledge and understanding via three practical scenarios

An externally assessed written paper.


Leading To:
FA Level 2 Basic Certificate in the Treatment & Management of Injury in Football for those candidates who wish to have a career in the medical sector of football.
