Coaching Opportunities

There are a number of options for females wanting to take part in coaching, ranging from the Junior Football Organisers Course and progressing in various different directions.

The Junior Football Organisers Course is designed for 14-18 year olds and gives candidates an introduction to session planning, health and safety, warming up and cooling down and organising a festival. This course is usually delivered over two days but can take other formats.

From here, most coaches like to start with the FA level 1 Coaching Certificate, for which participants must be 16 years of age, and in year 12 or above to take this course.

The course runs over two weekends and a couple of weekday evenings, and gives participants a number of ideas for games and practices for age groups up to under 14. There is an assessment on the last weekend where participants have to deliver one of these games to the other candidates.

In addition to this, there are a range of courses in specialist areas that we run up to twice a year – Futsal, GK Level 1, Coaching Disabled Footballers Courses and various others.

There are also a new range of “Age Appropriate” courses which are being released. The Age Appropriate Introductory Module is a one day introductory course before following on with 3 modules. Completion of all three modules equates to the new Level 3 Youth Award.

The traditional Coaching pathways of Level 2, 3 and UEFA A still apply as well.

Female coaches in the county aspiring to reach the next level can gain support throughout the County mentoring scheme. Those female coaches at Level 2 may also gain support from the County FA.
