BUGBROOKE ST MICHAELS FC WIN AT WEMBLEY.

The Under 9’s of Bugbrooke St Michaels FC had a day out to remember as they represented Northamptonshire FA at the McDonalds National Mini Soccer Festival held at Wembley.

Before playing at the new national stadium the boys played 3 games at nearby Northwick Park where they also had the opportunity to learn new skills, which included coaching sessions lead by the FA Learning/McDonald’s Grassroots Coach of the Year, and Eric Harrison, the ex-Manchester United Youth Team Coach, who coached David Beckham, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes to stardom. The lads then tried some of the McDonald’s inflatable football challenges, which included goalkeeping and shooting. After a enjoyable morning and a break for lunch the team then headed for Wembley.

The Bugbrooke Badgers made the most of their 12 minutes on the hallowed turf at Wembley with an impressive 4 nil victory over a team from Tamworth. Bugbrooke scored early and then were able to dominate possession for the rest of the game. At the final whistle both teams made their way up the steps to the royal box where they were presented with their commemorative medals.

Manager Paul Carr said “As a club we were honoured to have been selected to play at Wembley, Bugbrooke St Michaels FC prides itself in offering football to all children across Northamptonshire regardless of ability or background. The boys were very quiet when we first told them they were going to Wembley but once it had sunk in they were very excited. The day has been a great success enjoyed by parents, players and supporters alike. a day which shall be remembered for years to come."
