It was the Northamptonshire Football Associations turn to host the Annual game against the Berks and Bucks Football Associations U18s County Representative side, a game that is played at the start of every season competing for the Colin Sapwell Memorial Shield.

Northampton Spencer hosted the game for the County this season, and a good crowd watched the game, starting with high hopes for the Northamptonshire players.

The first 25 minutes were played out with most of the pressure coming from Northamptonshire, and there were missed chances on numerous occasions as well as a couple of good saves from the opposition keeper.

Berks and Bucks had been defending their goal for most of this period when they put through a long pass that beat the Northamptonshire defenders, allowing a lone forward to run on and take his chance with a good solid strike to take the lead.

Northamptonshire continued to push forward despite Berks and Bucks getting into the game. The second half started with the Northamptonshire boys giving away a penalty, which the NFA goalkeeper then brilliantly saved. Hopes were raised but Berks and Bucks were clearly playing the better football in the second-half.

Berks and Bucks then scored again in the last 5 minutes of the game which sealed their win, and the Colin Sapwell Trophy in the process.

The Northamptonshire FA Under 18s Boys team was:
Tom Aitken, Matthaus Bates, Niall Cooper, Joe Jessop, James Lorimer, Matthaus Marriott, Sean McBride, Sean McGillick, Joe Moriarty, Patrick O’Connell, Joe Power, Ashley Robinson, Danny Watson.

The next Under 18s Boys game sees Northamptonshire FA host Huntingdonshire County FA in the FA County Youth Cup on the 11th October at Raunds Town, kick off 3:00pm.
