They soon settled in and played some great football putting pressure on the opposition with some good passes and shots on goal. Although when the half time whistle blew the score was 0-0, the Northamptonshire girls had had an excellent first half and the crowd were anticipating a great second half.
The girls came out just as they had started the game and were rewarded 4 minutes in when Elise Newby scored what could easily be the goal of the season. The Leicestershire keeper made two good saves but the county girls held on, continuing to pressurise the opposition until the final whistle blew queuing ecstatic celebrations.
This was a brilliant start for the team as Northamptonshire girls have not beaten Leicestershire for a number of years, which will undoubtedly give them a huge boost when they travel up to Sheffield for their next game on Sunday 8th November.
