Kettering FC Kick Start FA Girls Football Week

Kettering FC kicked off FA Girls football week early with a training session ran by Kelly Smith.
On Saturday afternoon, Kelly Smith, MBE Arsenal and England ladies footballing legend, visited the girls of Kettering FC at the John Lowther football centre and ran training sessions for the under 10s, 11's and 13's before having photos and signing memorabilia.

Kelly was asked if she could attend a girls’ training day on Saturday 15th October as part of the FA Girls’ Football Week but was unavailable. However, she did take time out of her busy schedule to join the girls this Saturday 8th October.

The event on the 15th will be held at Southfields school, Kettering, with girls of all ages welcome to attend for some free fun training sessions and mini matches.

Speaking on her blog page, Kelly said: “Working with the children was great and seeing their enthusiasm and energy for the game was fantastic.”

Simon Aston, the manager of Kettering FC, said: “For the girls to have a training session with someone who is so inspirational in female football was brilliant. All the girls had the opportunity to spend time with Kelly in a relaxed atmosphere with their friends. The girls also managed to get a few selfies and autographs before presenting Kelly one of their own signed shirts.”
