Annual Health Check 2017-18

With this season’s FA Charter Standard Annual Health Check window now open, club volunteers please #PlayYourPart in demonstrating what it means to...
Our FA Charter Standard Clubs that achieved their FA Charter Standard accreditation prior to July 1 2017 have from now until March 31 2018 to complete the Annual Health Check for the 2017-18 season via the Whole Game System.

For the majority of clubs the policies or documentation they evidenced when applying for FA Charter Standard do not change so the process serves as a reminder of what qualifications & CRCs need updating, progressing or renewing.

FA Charter Standard Leagues and clubs have a huge part to play across the game of football as they are proven to grow and retain more teams and players. Create a fun, safe and inclusive environment for volunteers to thrive and for players to develop. Have potential access to more funding opportunities and better facilities but most importantly of all are part of the FAs vision to Unite the Game & Inspire the Nation.

Completing this process shows you are FOR FA Charter Standard, which means you are ALL FOR what it provides FOR Parents, FOR Players, FOR Volunteers & FOR the Game. You are FOR ALL.

Completing the Process

This season’s Annual Health Check Guide covers all the information clubs need to complete the process, making sure they continue to satisfy the criteria and action plan around evidencing or completing qualifications. This guide can be found below.

Additional resources to support the process include:

Acceptable Ofqual First Aid Qualifications  - This list shows what The FA will accept as a first aid qualification for adult FA Charter Standard criteria purposes, evidence needs to be accompanied by a completed FA Emergency Aid Bridging Document.*

FA Emergency Aid Bridging Document - This document is for the named individuals within Adult teams to read, acknowledge and complete that hold an acceptable first aid qualification that is not the FA Emergency Aid.*

Safeguarding Children Online Recertification – This guide explains how individuals that need to renew their Safeguarding Children certificate can do so online.

Recognition of Prior Learning – This pathway explains how the existing FA Youth Award qualifications for coaches fit within the new Coach Education pathway and identifies their next steps to continue their coach education.

Club Development Plan – This plan is for clubs to use as a template to highlight areas of development over a 3 to 5 year period and opportunity to meet with County FA development officers for additional support, highlighting initiatives that can support the plan.

Further Information

Changes in Coaching Criteria for FA Charter Standard Youth, Development & Community Clubs

On page 15 of the Annual Health Check guide you will find a statement from Head of Grassroots Delivery, Les Howie, on the changes in coaching qualifications and FA Charter Standard Criteria.

In support of this statement those coaches that completed the FA Youth Awards will have a much better understanding of what it takes to be a grassroots football coach after undertaking such qualifications and will contribute towards inspiring the future generations of players that will love and support the game of football for years to come.

We would encourage them to continue their development on the new coaching pathway by referring to the RPL document, not for the sake of criteria, but for their personal development & to better understand how to coach & engage their players to become more technical & creative players of the future.

The qualifications they have completed will still be recognised and against their profile, but more importantly, it is these qualifications that will give the coaches the tools on the ground to be able to plan, deliver and review more effective coaching sessions, across the four corners of player development as they transition through age phases and formats of the game.
