11-a-Side Football During the Close Season

Northamptonshire FA would like to remind affiliated clubs that no 11-a-side matches are to be played during the official close season.
The close season this year is between 1 June and 30 June 2019 and no matches, apart from a select list, are permitted to be played in the county throughout that period.

Clubs are therefore permitted to resume playing matches in preparation for the 2019/20 season after this period has ended.

Only small-sided matches as specified in Rule B7 of the FA Handbook, Mini-Soccer matches or matches played according to “The Laws of the Game – 9 v 9” are to be played on Northamptonshire FA-affiliated sites throughout the close season.

Matches organised as works’ clubs sports days on private grounds or fetes and festivals are still permitted to be played. Boys’ Brigades, Scouts and similar organisations are also still allowed to play competition matches whilst in camp.

Similarly, the Army, Navy and Royal Air Force teams can play matches whilst in camp but these competitions shall be limited to the units concerned and gate money is not permitted to be taken.

Premier League and EFL outfits can play friendlies throughout the summer in preparation for the 2018/19 season.
