Have a Go Day

British Blind Sport launches first Have a Go Day event for 2021 in Northampton!

The event will be held at Kingsthorpe College on Saturday 22 May 2021 from 10am-2pm

Working in partnership with Northamptonshire County FA, British Blind Sport has announced that registration for its first 2021 in-person Have a Go Day event is now open.
British Blind Sport is working in partnership with Northamptonshire Sport, Northampton Association for the Blind (NAB), Northamptonshire County FA, Sport4Fitness and Children First Northamptonshire to deliver a safe outdoor multi-sports event for individuals and families living with sight loss.

The FREE event will be held at Kingsthorpe College on Saturday 22 May 2021 from 10am-2pm.

The sport sessions will be hosted together with inclusive coaches and local activity providers. We welcome blind and partially sighted people of all ages and their families to “have a go” and get involved in the day. The event will provide a relaxed, friendly and supportive environment for blind and partially sighted people to try a range of outdoor activities including football, cricket, guide running, and more!

Along with a full COVID risk assessment for the event, to keep people as safe as possible all activities will be delivered outdoors.

British Blind Sport Have a Go Days have been running successfully for five years all across the UK, giving children and adults living with sight loss the chance to try inclusive and adapted sports. The event will provide an opportunity for blind and partially sighted people in Northampton and the surrounding area to return to in-person physical activity and discover new sporting opportunities.

Alaina MacGregor, CEO of British Blind Sport said: “Following the easing of Government restrictions, we are pleased to announce our plans to relaunch our Have a Go and family day events across England. Our team has been working hard to provide guidance and implement COVID safe measures to assist blind and partially sighted people to return to sport and physical activity. In addition to providing a friendly and safe environment for volunteers and participants to try out various sports, we hope that our Have a Go Days will strengthen local VI clubs membership and broaden the sport's entry-level participation. The events have always been extremely popular, and so we encourage anyone who wants to attend to register their interest.”

Registration is required prior to the event and is available on the British Blind Sport website below:
