Lydia Sallaway and Rebecca Mears are heading to England National Talent Camps

We’re delighted to say that two players from Northamptonshire FA’s Girls Talent Pathway have been selected for the upcoming England National Talent Camps.
Girls Talent PathwayLydia Sallaway (pictured, first) and Rebecca Mears (pictured, second) have trained with the Northamptonshire FA Girls Talent Pathway for over six years and their hard work has finally paid off with them being called up for the upcoming England National Talent Camps. These camps are the highest level that the girls can reach and offer an introduction to the England pathway for the age groups prior to the England U16 squad.

Northamptonshire FA’s Head of Girls Talent Pathway, Chloe Brown, said: “I am so proud of these girls. Both of them have worked incredibly hard both on and off the pitch and come such a long way since they first joined us many years ago. The commitment that they have both shown is finally paying off and they are being rewarded for their hard work.”

Both girls are looking forward to attending the camps, although they will both attend separate camps with Rebecca attending the first camp this week and Lydia attending the second camp next week.

Rebecca MearsBefore heading off, Rebecca said: “I am nervous but very excited and proud that I have been selected, because it’s amazing opportunity.”

Northamptonshire FA’s Girls Talent Pathway offers girls from U9-U16 the opportunity to train and play games whilst playing for their grassroots team. It provides a high level of support for players development, with football coaches, physical performance coaches, sports psychologists and performance analysts all working with the girls to improve their performance.

Lydia felt that the support offered has really helped her in her development towards attending the England camps.

She said: “I am extremely excited and really looking forward to all the training and to being responsible and independent over the camp experience. Northamptonshire FA’s Girls Talent Pathway has really given me so much support and preparation for this experience on and off the pitch.”
