Northants FA were handed the Youth Engagement award for developing a child friendly approach to the way they operate as an organization; based around a new mascot (Falcon Frankie) created by one of the children in the local community as part of an NFA competition. This would lead to the development of a child appropriate website, a Falcon Frankie book and he creation of a real-life size mascot. Utilizing all of these tools, the NFA started to develop a partnership with a trampoline park as well as evolve better channels for children to communicate their ideas on the current state of play of youth football, hosting seven youth football conferences and even attending summer tournaments and club events along with Falcon Frankie. Northants FA hope to build on this success with Frankie at the full front, building an even stronger engagement with young people
CEO, Christian Smith said
“Creating a safe and enjoyable environment for our younger players is one of the NFA’s key priorities and so to be recognised for our work in this area is a credit to the whole staff team that have contributed to ensuring that this commitment is met.
We are embarking on a new and exciting period in our development as a County FA and the National FA’s support is pivotal to our future success.  To have our award submission stand out against the 235 entries from across the whole country is a great example of our ongoing commitment to improving the game across Northamptonshire.”

“It gives us great pleasure to recognise and reward our County FAs and I want to thank each and every one of them for the vital work they deliver across their local communities, ensuring we continue to develop, promote and protect the game so it can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of age, background or ability.

I’d like to congratulate Northants FA in winning the Youth Engagement Category and all of the other County FAs for their dedication and achievements over the past two seasons.
