Refereeing Disability Football Workshop
We invite all referees to come and add to their skillset with our free Northamptonshire FA Refereeing Disability Football Workshop.
Delivered in partnership with Huntingdonshire FA, the workshop will take place at Kettering Buccleuch Academy, NN16 9NS, on Thursday 3rd October from 6:30pm to 9pm.
The workshop is aimed at referees with limited or no experience officiating disability football who wish to develop their ability to officiate players with a range of disabilities and impairments.
Topics covered will include the disability football landscape, how to utilise effective communication, use of terminology, and best practice when officiating players with a range of disabilities or impairments. The course will include both theory and practical aspects, including the opportunity to officiate disability football to gain a first-hand experience of the game.
Once completed, referees will be equipped with the competencies and experiences to officiate disability football, and will be supported to officiate in the local disability leagues.

Jordan Mason, Football Development Officer (Disability & Inclusion), said: "The Refereeing Disability Football Workshop is the perfect way to learn more about the disability game, and discover the opportunities to officiate across a range of disability formats. There are more opportunities than ever to get involved with this rewarding format of the game and this is an excellent example of that."
“We have seen match officials make the step from beginning to officiate in pan-disability football to officiating in the National Cup Finals at St. George’s Park within 12 months. Whether you’re looking for a rewarding format of football to accompany your mainstream appointments, or want to progress up the refereeing pathway to officiate at a higher level, refereeing disability football is a great way to expand your skillset and develop as a referee."
