Northants FA Achieve Equality Award

Northamptonshire County FA is pleased to announce that it has achieved the nationally recognised Foundation Level of the Equality Standard for Sport.

The Equality Standard for Sport was initially launched in November 2004 to help address inequalities within the sporting sector. It is a framework to guide sport organisations towards achieving equality, and The FA felt that the work Northamptonshire FA do in this area was worthy of the Foundation Level.

The following comments were cited in the assessment report as areas of strength:

• The Association has a Lead Equality Officer in the Business Manager who reports direct to the NFA Board and who champions equality at Board level.

• The NFA Board considers and agrees all equality related decisions with support from the Inclusion Advisory Group and the FA Equality Manager.

• The NCFA Inclusion Advisory Group was formed in March 2015 and has now been refreshed by the Business Manager.

• The NFA Operational Plan supports the NFA Business Plan to deliver action on present equality issues and to address underrepresentation within the organisation.

Gary Biddulph, Northamptonshire FA Business Manager, said: “Inclusion and diversity within football is a key focus for us at Northamptonshire FA. We believe that football is for everyone and have a fantastic Inclusion Advisory Group in place to promote practices of equality and inclusion throughout the county.

“The Group is proactive in developing strategies and policies for inclusion and actively engages with the wider football community to promote these messages. I am incredibly proud of the entire NFA team for achieving this well-deserved accreditation.”
