Updated Covid 19 DBS Guidance

Updated guidance has been released from The FA regarding DBS checks

The FA have released further guidance regarding the expiry of DBS Checks as the suspension of football continues alongside the national lockdown.

The date of DBS checks that are due to expire between 1st October 2020 and 31st May 2021 will be extended by one calendar year. This follows the action that was taken in April 2020 for checks that expired between 1st  March 2020 and – 31st September 2020 to be extended by one calendar year.

For the avoidance of doubt, only DBS checks expiring between 1st October 2020 and 31st May 2021 are to be extended. DBS checks that were extended 1st March to 31st September 2020 are not to be extended further.

Once Government restrictions are lifted, the priority for undertaking DBS checks will be as follows. County FAs are asked to plan in line with these priorities:

1. Individuals new to football and have not undertaken a DBS check.
2. Individuals that were extended by a year in April 2020 but haven’t yet been renewed.
3. Individuals requiring renewal and whose DBS that was extended for 12 months between 1st October 2020 – 31st May 2021

The extensions to DBS validity will be made during the week of 1st February, and communications will be sent out to those affected the same week.
