Northamptonshire FA officials set to shine on the big stage

We have three match officials appointed to prestigious games as we close out the season.

We are delighted to announce success for our top officials as the season comes to a close.

Dean Whitestone has been selected by The FA to referee this season’s FA Youth Cup Final – Man City v Leeds United – on Friday 10th May 2024 at the Etihad Stadium.

Stuart Burt is one of 8 officials from England, selected by UEFA, to officiate at the European Championships in Germany this Summer.

Will Finnie has been selected by The FA to referee this season’s FA Challenge Vase Final – Great Wakering v Romford FC – on Saturday 11th May 2024 at Wembley Stadium.

Dean said: “I am proud to be appointed to one of The FA’s top competitions and I am looking forward to the occasion. I am grateful to everyone that has supported my journey so far and hope that it shows anything is possible with hard work and commitment.”

Stuart said: “I am excited to be given the opportunity to represent PGMOL, The FA and Northamptonshire FA in one of the world’s top tournaments. I never believed that I could reach the levels I have got to within football, but by working hard, being sensible and making sacrifices along the way, I have made a dream come true! I will always be grateful for the support I have received from the refereeing family in Northamptonshire who have helped support, coach, mentor and guide me to where I am today. For that I thank you all.”

Will said: "It’s a dream to referee at Wembley and I’m focused on delivering a strong performance. It’s a privilege to be appointed to such a prestigious competition and to represent Northamptonshire FA and PGMOL.”

We know that you will join us in congratulating Dean, Stuart and Will on their appointments, which rounds off an incredibly successful season for them all.

Referee Development Officer, Olly Mackey, said “the trio serve as an example of what can be achieved in refereeing with hard work, commitment, ambition and resilience. It is testament to their character that all three are involved within referee development as coaches and share their skill & expertise with referees in the grassroots and semi-professional game. It has been inspiring to see their progression to date and we wish them the best in their respective competitions.”
