Peterborough United Futsal Programme

The Peterborough United Futsal Programme is run by Peterborough United Foundation. After a successful few seasons with both male and female…
The Futsal Programme is not only a chance to play Futsal every day, but gain valuable education qualifications delivered by Nene Park Academy. Players will be working towards a BTEC Level 3 in sport, with personal training courses and NCS programmes also offered. You could come out of the programme with the equivalent of four A-levels, therefore if you wanted to progress onto University this would give you a high level of UCAS points to stand you in good stead. The programme is for those who are in the under-16s/under-17s age bracket. Training every day and the competitive nature of your fixtures will help develop your performance with your grass roots team.

Futsal Scholarship aims to provide a structured and supportive environment where students flourish and develop the skills needed to go on to be successful in their chosen careers, training and/or Higher Education. The BTEC Level 3 in Sport is a specialist work related course developed to cover core elements of sporting performance and excellence such as anatomy, physiology, psychology, coaching, analysis and technical and tactical development.

This course particularly suits those wanting to enter employment in the sport and active leisure sector as sports coaches, instructors, P.E Teacher, leaders etc.

For those wishing to progress to higher education students will have an opportunity to complete a two year foundation degree (Sport Development with Coaching) through the Open University while being mentored by senior Peterborough United staff. This will see the learners finish the course with a UEFA B coaching qualification and potential for employment opportunities within the club.

As part of the course students will be required to complete work experience in a variety of sports settings, as well as performing various roles within the organisation of sport events: this will include refereeing and officiating roles. This knowledge and experience will allow for further progression within seeking employment and/or higher education options.

By signing up with the programme, we also offer the opportunity to play in the best facilities. The Copper Box Arena (Olympic Park) and Derby Velodrome for the boys as well as many others arenas meanwhile the girls will play their matches at Birmingham Pro Direct arena.

Added to this, the Futsal Team plays a number of high-quality opponents, such as teams from Chelsea FC, Norwich City, Leicester City, Southampton FC and Leeds United FC. While being a part of the club, players will also be able to gain access to certain Posh fixtures, attend the stadium ground tour and meet some of the first team players. They will be based within the training ground in and amongst our Youth Team/ First Team and will have many opportunities available to them from being at a Professional Football Club. We have also seen players train with our Youth Team following an impressive season with our futsal group.

So, if you are interested in playing Futsal every day, gain a valuable education and represent Peterborough United, then the Futsal programme is for you!
