Northampton Town Multi Disability Club Gain Charter Standard Award

Northamptonshire FA has awarded Northampton Town Multi Disability Club the prestigious title of FA Charter Standard Club status.

Debbie Preston, Football Development Officer for Northants FA, presented Northampton Town Multi Disability Club with their FA Charter Standard Award prior to Northampton Town’s recent League 2 fixture against Port Vale.

The bid for Charter Standard was led by Russell Lewis who, for over 20 years, has organised football opportunities for disability players within the county. The club now boasts 11 teams including youth, adult, men’s and ladies, in addition to a Down syndrome group. There can be no doubt that the future of the club looks very bright.

The FA Charter Standard Programme, supported by McDonald's, is The FA's accreditation scheme for clubs and leagues. Its goal is to raise standards in football and support the development of clubs and leagues, whilst recognising and rewarding them for their commitment and achievements.

Debbie Preston presented the award and said: “I feel very honoured to present the award to such a deserving club. Whilst Russell has led the club’s application for Charter Standard, he will be the first to admit that there are many individuals who, as part of the club, have put in a large amount of work in ensuring the club continues to prosper.”

There has never been a better time to get involved and play football, whatever your level or ability.
