Match Report: Northamptonshire FA 7-0 Nottinghamshire FA

Northants rounded off their season in comprehensive fashion on Sunday.

Northamptonshire FA's under-18s Representative Team rounded-off their Midlands Counties Youth Championship campaign in style with a fine 7-0 victory over Nottinghamshire on Sunday (14 April).

The first half was a relatively even affair with Sidik Atcha opening the scoring. The hosts turned on the style after the break though as further strikes from Alvin Magagada, Connor I’Anson and a hat-trick from Jessi Obeng sealed a comprehensive victory for Northamptonshire.

The game itself, held at Bugbrooke St Michael Football Club, started at a fast tempo with both sides showing attacking intent and having a number of chances to go ahead. Northants goalkeeper Lewis North-Row though produced some fine saves to prevent Nottinghamshire taking the lead.

With half-time drawing close, Northamptonshire stole the lead. Atcha was the man to open the scoring with a terrific effort to give his side a narrow lead going into the break.

Less than a minute into the second half, the home side then made it 2-0 with a goal from Magagada.

The quick start appeared to unsettle Nottinghamshire as Connor I’Anson took full advantage to add a third goal for Northamptonshire.

Now comfortably in the lead, Northants fully dominated the rest of the game with a hat-trick from Obeng and a goal from Hilton Arthur sealing a thumping win for the home county.

Credit to Nottinghamshire who contributed to a good game of football and a big thank you to the officials and Bugbrooke St Michael FC for holding Northamptonshire’s last game of the season.
