Northamptonshire Set to Embrace Rainbow Laces

MAKING FOOTBALL EVERYONE’S GAME

Grassroots football clubs across Northamptonshire will be wearing Rainbow Laces in their boots over the weekend of 30 November – 1 December to show their support for LGBT+ inclusion in football.

With many clubs showing an interest in getting involved, Northamptonshire FA held a ballot draw to determine which teams would receive free laces from the County FA, with others able to order from the Stonewall website.

Ian Tinto, Head of Football Development at Northamptonshire FA, said: “The NFA continues its work to make football accessible for our entire community, and the Rainbow Laces campaign is a great vehicle for challenging some of the barriers our LGBTQ participants have in accessing the game.

“Hopefully these laces provide a visual reminder to all our community of their responsibility for tolerance and inclusion, while allowing us all to play the game we love.”

Northamptonshire FA encourages all players, coaches, referees, volunteers and parents to challenge anti-LGBT language, celebrate LGBT people in sport and wear Rainbow Laces over the activation weekend of Saturday 30 November and Sunday 1 December.
