PARENTS IN SPORT WEEK RUNS FROM 7 – 14 OCTOBER
Staff members from Northamptonshire FA will be attending matches throughout the county over the next two weekends to show their support for football mums and dads during the NSPCC’s Parents in Sport Week.
We know that grassroots football runs on ‘parent power’, which is why we’re keen to get out and about to thank the parents who put so much time and effort into encouraging their children to play the game.
We’ll also be using this opportunity to promote The FA’s We Only Do Positive campaign, which highlights through research how important positive support is for the enjoyment and development of young players.
Debbie Preston, Northamptonshire FA Football Development Officer, said: “It’s a sad fact that some youth football matches, which should be about having fun with friends, can very quickly become a hostile environment because of the behaviour of those on the touchline. We want to thank parents for the work they do whilst spreading the following message:
It’s their game, so let them play.
Make sure you keep an eye out for us in Northampton and Kettering over the next two weekends!”
