Northamptonshire FA Retain Colin Sapwell Trophy

Northamptonshire FA’s U18 Representative Squad retained the Colin Sapwell Trophy with a closely-fought 1-0 victory over Berks and Bucks FA on Sunday 22 September.

On a wet afternoon at Wellingborough Whitworths FC, the game kicked off at a good pace with Berks and Bucks showing early pressure.

Northants weathered the early attacks and grew into the game, proving their worth with a well-taken goal by number seven, Will Palmer.

The first half was very even with both sides having chances, but Northants held on and went into the break 1-0 up.

The second half saw Berks and Bucks come out pressing for an equaliser, but Northants’ defence held their ground with some excellent performances.

A special mention must go to goalkeeper Jason Amos, who kept Northants in the game with some great saves.

Overall it was a very even game played in the right manner; a good advert for county football.

Northamptonshire FA would like to thank Wellingborough Whitworths FC for their excellent hospitality and warm welcome and wish Berks and Bucks all the best for their season.
