Simon Aston

Kettering FC's Simon Aston picks up BBC Sports Personality of the Year Unsung Hero Award of the East Region

Northamptonshire coach recognised Nationally for his inspiring contributions to the Women & Girls and Disability games

When he couldn’t find a team for his daughter in 2012, Simon took it upon himself to start one…

Eight years later and that team has become 27 teams providing boys, girls, women and those with additional needs all the playing opportunities they need in the Kettering area.

But Simon’s commitment to the grassroots game does not stop there!  Maintaining the excellent facilities at Broughton Village Hall and the adjoining pitches, he works tirelessly with a dedicated group of fellow volunteers to make the whole football experience that much better for players and parents alike.  Incredibly, he also finds time to support Northants FA in delivering sessions for players with Cerebral Palsy!

Now shortlisted for the National BBC Sports Personality of the Year Unsung Hero Award, we are keeping our fingers crossed for Simon at this Sunday’s ceremony which is live on BBC One at 7.00pm.

Good Luck Simon!!!!
