Claret Mountaineers Summit Challenge
The Claret Mountaineers are looking to climb Snowdon in a bid to raise £5,000 for Northampton Town FC Community Trust, to help deliver more accessible programmes in the local community.
Northampton Town FC Community’s vision is 'to create a healthy, happy and connected Northamptonshire'. The Community Trust are looking to achieve their mission and aims through delivery in four key areas:
• Education
• Health
• Disability & Inclusion
• Sports Participation
The Claret Mountaineers are looking to raise funds which will go towards two of the key areas in Health and Disability & Inclusion. All proceeds will go towards the Trust being able to set up and deliver free lifestyle behaviour change programmes (Fit Cobblers) around the county as well as help them to provide more opportunities to children, young people and adults with disabilities such as Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and those who are deaf and partially sighted to engage in physical activity on a regular basis.
Finally, one of the key priorities of the inclusion programme is to help set up activities for adults who are suffering with Mental Health issues, a safe space where adults can develop qualities such as resilience, confidence and overall mindfulness.
The Claret Mountaineers team is made up of current and former participants, staff and volunteers who have benefitted greatly from the Health & Wellbeing and Disability Football programmes and this is an opportunity to make a difference to people’s lives for the better.
