Poor drainage on your pitches? Try the Oxyshot!

The OxyShot is an ideal tool in the armoury of professional or volunteer groundsmen

The NFA and our grounds maintenance partners, Premiership Lawncare, have joined forces to secure an innovative piece of equipment to treat compaction in football pitches – the OxyShot from Redexim.
During periods of wet weather, soil compaction leads to football pitches becoming waterlogged and matches cancelled. The OxyShot is ideal for ‘on the spot’ treatment of problem areas such as goalmouths and centre circles.

The OxyShot uses a single 25mm probe to inject air into the soil in four directions, at a pressure of up to 110psi and to a maximum depth of 500mm (20”). The compact, highly manoeuvrable unit can be easily transported to the desired location or problem areas to lift, expand and de-compact the soil, thus relieving compaction and improving drainage without the need for chemical applications. The OxyShot unit is powered by a 40hp tractor and has a smooth, swift, clean penetration which leaves minimal disruption to the surface.

The OxyShot is an ideal tool in the armoury of professional or volunteer groundsmen and Northamptonshire FA clubs and leagues can take advantage of the OxyShot in two different ways:

Premiership Lawncare attend your site - £550 per day

Hire the unit and use your own tractor - £275 per day / £750 per week

Mark Pettit, Director of Premiership Lawncare, said: “The OxyShot could be a real gamechanger for grassroots football clubs who suffer with poor drainage on their pitches. The OxyShot is incredibly powerful and effective at treating problem areas. We can’t wait to get out and use it across Northamptonshire to help keep pitches playable during the wet period that’s on its way this winter.”

Stuart Smith, Clubs and Leagues Support Officer at Northants FA, said: “We’re really proud to add the Oxyshot to our partnership with Premiership Lawncare. Mark and his team are already providing an excellent service to a large number of our clubs and the OxyShot is another piece of kit in their armoury. I’d urge any club with drainage problems to contact Mark and see if the OxyShot could be part of the solution.”

The Oxyshot forms a part of our range of services designed to support Northamptonshire FA clubs and leagues with their pitch maintenance. Many clubs are already accessing financial support through the Football Foundation’s 6-year Grass Pitch Maintenance Fund and/or have accessed grass pitch maintenance machinery grants.

For further information on the support and funding available to clubs and leagues to improve your pitches, contact our Clubs and Leagues Support Officer, Stuart Smith by email or telephone 07983 537025.
