Northamptonshire Youth Council members invited to FA Leadership Academy

Two representatives from the Northamptonshire FA Youth Council have been invited to attend The FA’s National Leadership Academy at St Georges Park.
Rachael Brient and Cameron Marshall have both been members of the Youth Council since its inception in August 2016. Rachael is currently a Level 2, Mod 3 coach and volunteers at Welland Valley FC whilst also coaching at our Advanced Coaching Centre for girls. Alongside this Rachael was a member of Northamptonshire’s football futures programme.

Cameron is also a coach and volunteers at both Kingsthorpe Jets and Northampton Town Multidisabled. In addition, Cameron also sits on the Northamptonshire FA Inclusion Advisory Group representing young people.

The leadership academy takes place at St George’s Park from Monday 24 July until Thursday 27 July. The purpose of the Academy as set out by The FA is to ‘improve the individual and collective capability of the country’s youth leaders and their network of Youth Councils and Forums to meet our joint new organisational objectives.’

On the news that both Rachael and Cameron will be attending, Youth Council staff lead Jack Patmore said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Rachael, Cameron and our Youth Council to develop. I look forward to seeing the ideas that Rachael and Cameron bring back from the academy and also seeing them develop as leaders.”

The Northamptonshire FA Youth Council currently has six members and has provided ideas towards how young people are mentored within the county, have been included in the Inclusion Advisory Group and Youth Committee meetings as well as being involved in the consultation process for Northamptonshire FA’s operational plan for the 2017/18 season.
